Welcome to Watching From The Cheap Seats, an unintimidating reviewing website.
My name is Olivia Scull and it is my aim to make theatre more accessible. I want to show you (young people in particular) that the world of theatre isn’t full of stuffy old people with monocles and pretentious personalities. It is, in fact, full of real people, real stories and real experiences.
In an attempt to do this I don’t use big long words or fancy technical terms. I let you know what I think of a show, gig or event in straight forward English. I studied in both Dance and Drama from a young age so I like to think I’m not entirely clueless, but I’ll let you be the judge of that…
I am very grateful to be press for the Bristol Hippodrome, the Cheltenham Everyman and the Cheltenham Festivals, which allows me to write these articles and keep my passion for reviewing alive. I’ve also got to attend the Oliviers, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the opening of The Barn theatre in Cirencester, and I hope this is just the beginning. As a journalism student I also love to interview and tell stories so keep an eye out for the occasional article and interview on here too!
